Going Places You’ve Never Been

I was talking with a friend the other day about how often we  have to “do it scared” in business (and life). In her case, she was starting a job for a new client that she felt was a stretch for her. We discussed how anytime you do something out of your comfort zone, it’s totally normal to feel scared. Then she laughingly recounted how much she had enjoyed sky-diving for the first time to celebrate a birthday a few years ago. She commented that it made her feel so victorious over fear that the feeling stayed with her for months.

Now, I’m not proposing that we take a field trip to the local sky-diving place (though that might not be a bad idea!).  But you do need to suit up and know it’s normal to feel the fear as you prepare to jump into something new, like launching a business.  Some of you might say, “Wait, I’m not launching, I’ve been in business for 5 years.”  Okay, that’s great. But my question to you is,  “Are you satisfied with how much money you’re making?” If not, it’s time for…

Something New.

Comfort zones are not really that comfortable.  Leaders find it pretty impossible to be happy unless they’re growing. As humans, we are designed for growth.

However,  we also live in culture of information overload and abundance.  And a protective mechanism in human nature is that when you become overwhelmed, you stop. In fact, people become paralyzed. It’s awful.

So what’s a body to do?  The first key to activating change and new growth is to feel the fear and do it anyway.  Another  major component for success is related to the unique design of your business.  Are you clear about what makes you stand out in your field?  Have you thought about the fact that YOU are your brand?  There’s absolutely no one else on earth like you. Learn how to work it! Clarity is to vision as gas is to a fire.

The last component I’ll mention today is the willingness to work like your hair’s on fire.  I read a book years ago called “Mach II with Your Hair on Fire”. I dont’ remember anything about the content but that title made a vivid impression!

If you need clarity, accountability and the spirit of working as part of a  team to create something bigger than yourself, don’t miss the Tele-Team that’s launching in two weeks. Details HERE

It’s said that courage is faith that has said it’s prayers. Say your prayers, because things are getting ready to change. If you want them to.
