Run to the Battle

By personality type, I’m more of a lover than a fighter. But I can be a defender and advocate – even a warrior,  if necessary. Passion can spark intensity to a flame.

The brand, Slingshot Success, is linked to the story of David and Goliath. David did not have a track record as a warrior, but he stepped up with courage and confidence in a moment that defined his destiny.

Here’s 3 simple strategies that can be applied to winning big.

1. Preparation. David didn’t pick up the slingshot for the first time the day he killed the giant. He’d put in hours and hours of practice in unseen places in seemingly insignificant ways before the day came for him to shine. Malcolm Gladwell refers to this principle in “The Outliers” when he talks about the thousands of hours of preparation that precede sustainable success. Preparation precedes promotion.

2.  Pick your fights carefully. David earned a reputation as a mighty warrior because he chose his battles well. He  was not a grump or a bully. He was too focused on his assignments to swagger and swear. Expressing passion is different than being disagreeable. Be clear on the battles that are yours and then  press in to win without hesitation or fear.

3. Offensive moves trump defensive strategies. Don’t dance around when it’s time to do battle; face obstacles head-on.  I admit it took me years to learn this. The ostrich who sticks his head in the sand has never been hailed as a champion and I’ve learned that the foes that steal my time, energy and focus don’t just go away because I want them to. Opposition often appears in the form of people or personalities, but these are usually masking deeper issues. Learn to discern; our biggest battles are typically against enemies like discouragement, strife, lack of unity and negativity. Identify the enemy, then strike fast.

The world needs what you have.  Run to the battle.
