We hired a private tour guide (well worth the money) and as he showed us the ruins, including the Palace and the Coliseum, he had a cool book that had photos of what we were looking at, then an overlay of what it probably looked like 2,000 years ago. Those rich images brought history to life in vivid detail.
The astonishing lesson from this is that we can bring our own future to life in that kind of vivid detail. The power of our imagination is like an overlay on our current reality. The brain is more than miraculous and does not discriminate based on probability or past experience. It creates what it sees.
You’re the artist of your own cool book. Cognitive science is still discovering what God has known all along. “Whatsoever a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Really.
“A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.” ~Antoine de Saint-Exupery
